Parimatch are the first operator in Ukraine to legally launch sports betting
In the beginning of March, Parimatch received approval regarding their sports betting licence from the Ukranian Gambling Commission (KRAIL).
Last month the operator also received approval from KRAIL regarding the online gaming licence.
Parimatch has now paid the licence fees and passed the checks, resulting in the operator being awarded its sports betting licence.
Speaking exclusively to SiGMA News, Parimatch Chief executive, Sergey Portnov said:
It’s hard to get nervous about competition, knowing that all companies who enter this market will stumble and get lost here. Russian operators will face political pressure, and foreign operators will simply get overwhelmed by lack of transparency and the extraordinariness of the Ukrainian approach to business.
In a press release he went on to say, “We are the first in the market not only in quality of services and level of technological development but also in compliance with the rules of a transparent business environment. Parimatch was born in Ukraine, and we are happy to finally officially return and help develop the industry in our home country.
Legalisation of the gambling business will help Ukraine generate funds for the budget and distribute them where they are always needed.”
The Ukraine’s Gambling Commission also took the chance to send out a notice to local players regarding complaints on Parimatch’s dot.com site. The Commission sent out a notice to players to remind people that Parimatch’s licenced site is – dot.ua and the other site ‘dot.com’ is operating illegally.
The Ukraine Gambling Commission has been working hard to establish Ukraine as a powerhouse in the CIS region and it has certainly done a good job thus far. Since Feb 2nd, 2021 KRAIL had started issuing gambling licences with Cosmolot being the first to acquire a gambling licence.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Ukraine’s regulator – the Expert Advisory Council of the Ukraine Lottery and Gaming Regulatory Commission (EACGRLC) also announced a strategic partnership with Merkur Gaming, with Merkur assisting Ukraine in creating a well-regulated, socially responsible and robust gaming industry within the country.
